Corrosion results in deterioration of materials due to chemical reaction of metals with the environment. As a consequence of such a reaction the electrical conductivity of the metal decreases. There are situations, however, where corrosion results in a volume increase. A mathematical model for the solution of direct eddy current testing problems related to corrosion with reduced electrical conductivity and volume increase is analyzed in the present paper.
