Human Body Influence on a Parallel Plate Capacitance
61st International Symposium ELMAR-2019: Proceedings 2019
Ričards Poriņš, Pēteris Apse-Apsītis

In this paper, the parallel plate capacitor is reviewed in the context of human presence. The paper includes the explanation of the capacitance change of a parallel plate capacitor depending on the human proximity and calculation method for a rough estimation of its capacitance. In this paper, some measuring and calculating methods are described, and simulation models are used to display the electric field around the human body. Calculation results for approaching finger, hand, and body are presented.
