The currently developing theory of active-adaptive intelligent electrical networks requires the development of a systematic approach to the formulation and solution of problems of rational (acceptable, satisfactory) power management. The lack of a priori information leads to the need to combine the analysis of the technological features of the consumer when controlling the modes of his power supply with the switching capabilities of the PSS. Successful management of power consumption is possible if the connections between the PSS and the process units are known and the control device reacts quickly enough to the effects from the EPS (PSS). The difficulties associated with management are determined by the complexity of the object; therefore, the analysis of the possibilities of controlling power consumption should be started from the object, not from the control algorithms. In the paper the ways of controlling the load of consumers are proposed: from the simplest ones to the fuzzy control methods, taking into account the existing schemes of compatibility of the interests of the energy company and consumers, which allows making the most rational decisions. The example of controlling a conditional power supply system of a consumer, which is exposed to accidental influences from the supplying EPS, is considered.
