The electron transfer between contacted polymers has been believed to be the mechanism for contact electrification so far [1]. However, due to the absence of free electrons alone, electron transfer between polymer insulators is doubtful. Instead, we have proposed that contact electrification of polymers occurs due to heterolytic bond cleavage.
