In this paper, a new approach to life cycle management of products’ components is proposed, taking into account their impact on the environment. It is shown that it is necessary to analyze and change the methods of development, production, logistics, and repair of engineering products. The analysis of the use of spare parts for vehicles, starting from 2010, showed excessive consumption of spare parts, previously unusual for specific groups of units. The reason for the replacement of failed units was the place of interfacing of materials of different types, which have increased corrosion or destruction during operation. Electroplating pairs have caused uncharacteristic, premature failure of spare parts, which are usually not disassembled units. In many cases, however, it is not advisable to recycle the replaced parts for a number of reasons. Thus, the necessity of reconsidering the application of this kind of couplings in machine units has been revealed. The current work considers in detail one of the aspects of the new approach to the management of the life cycle of components of a product taking into account their influence on ecology, namely the new approach to designing products’ components, which will essentially reduce negative impact on the environment.
