In this study, ZnO photocatalysts with different loadings of Eu2O3 and Sm2O3 were prepared by microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The prepared samples were investigated using XRD, SEM, and BET analysis. Photocatalytic activity was determined by degradation of methylene blue (MB) under Osram Vitalux illumination. The prepared ZnO photocatalysts show high photocatalytic activity under simulated solar light radiation. More than 95 % of initial MB solution was degraded after 30 min irradiation. The effect of pH and photocatalyst dosage were investigated. The reusability of photocatalysts was also studied.
