Within the framework of the present paper, the author aims at establishing the theoretical background for cognitive approach to the analysis of challenging ecological terms created in English and further aligned in Latvian and Russian. The terms are explored as the constituent elements of the frames existing within the thematic field Environment and Ecology, and are analysed adoptingthe Anna Karenina principle.
