Empirical study of the relationship involving temperature difference between the supply and return temperatures and the outdoor temperature for four district heating stations in Latvia is performed in the paper. Different regression models are analyzed. It is shown that a second degree polynomial provides a very good fit. The study gives potential for considerable energy savings provided the relationship between the temperature difference and outdoor temperature is controlled in accordance with the developed relationships.
