The crankshaft is one of the most important and expensive structural elements of an internal combustion piston engine, which absorbs periodic variable loads from forces caused by gas pressure, as well as inertial forces of moving and rotating masses. It should be noted that the improvement of the technological process of crankshaft production is one of the decisive factors in increasing the service life of engines. Properly selected crankshaft manufacturing material, as well as design and a set of technological measures, it is possible to reduce the residual stresses in the fibers of the material, reduce the exposure to stress concentrators, improve the forming conditions and heat treatment of the workpiece, as well as use various methods to increase strength and improve quality.
