Economy, Energy and Covid19 Pandemic
2020
Leo Jansons, Laila Zemīte

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused economic and social tensions around the world and affected many aspects of people's lives, including the energy sector. With declining global oil demand, resource prices fell and production volumes declined, especially after the price war between Russia and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). According to the International Energy Agency's oil market report, global oil demand was 29 million barrels per day lower in April 2020 than a year earlier, and this stagnant trend could continue until the end of this year or the middle of next year.
