UV Discharge Lamp Electronic Ballast based on ISOS Resonant Converter with Integrated Transformer

The paper describes design of input-series-output-series (ISOS) resonant converter based electronic ballast for ultra-violet gas discharge lamp powering. Proposed topology and control method allows achieve soft- switching of MOSFET transistors. Application of ISOS topology allows application of low voltage MOSFET transistors which are cheaper and with a better parameters. Integration of the transformer allows reduction of the price of magnetics components. The operation of the converter is described in the paper. Experimental prototype powered from three phase 400 V AC network with 3 kW output power has been built and experimental results confirms proper operation of the converter.
