This paper provides a description of the options for
calculating the electrical parameters of power transmission
systems in the cases of both one and two parallel consumers. The
meaning of the root formulas of the quadratic equations is
analyzed and the variants of how to determine the correct root in
relation to the real situations is studied, concluding that the
second root is also possible from the point of view of mathematics
and electrical engineering. The significance of discriminant
expressions is analyzed by numerically studying cases with
electric transport and its catenary by performing simulations.
