This paper is intended for the design of an I2C based protocol for simultaneous control of multiple slave parts of a CNC machine, such as X escalator (which controls the X and Y axis) and one or multiple tool heads hooked to the Y escalator. We implement a bus converter / hub, which forwards the requests from the PC to the selected device and vice versa. The hub is universal and can be used in scenarios other than CNC. The performance of the proposed hub is evaluated in terms of its throughput and latency.
