The basis of higher education is to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies so that university graduates are qualified to work in their field. Studies "Customs and Tax Administration" is one of the most requested at Riga Technical University (RTU) and the country as a whole. RTU Institute of International Economic Relations and Customs (SESMI) training for customs officers has been organized since 1994 and for tax specialists since 2004. More than five thousand graduates have completed the program since its inception. It is unique There is no similar program in Latvia or Europe. But the country still lacks tax experts though they are needed in both the public and private sectors, as taxes are mandatory to any company.
