Although RTU positions itself as the leading university in the field of information technology in Latvia, much remains to be done on its own farm. The transition to the digital age is likely to affect education more than other parts of our society. Providing education with the right digital skills and tools is a prerequisite for keeping up with the increasingly demanding digital economy and society (van der Vlies, 2020). Today's rapid technological development allows to improve the study process by introducing new innovative digital solutions. There is no problem with the availability of technology, as the choice in the market is quite wide, rather the problem is to choose a uniform approach and solutions. Funding should not be a problem either, as leading information technology companies usually give educational institutions significant discounts or even free licenses for their core programs.
