One of the main quality criteria of steels is the ability to resist brittle fractures, this ability is qualitatively expressed in terms of impact resistance. According to the data of the railway company AS "Pasažieru vilciens" in the period from 2015 to 2021, the total number of unplanned repairs of the traction drive due to the breakage of the M-24 bolts of the rubber cord clutch is 180 cases. Most of which, according to statistics, took place during the winter period. Due to this, there is a question of increasing the brittleness threshold of steel in the cold for the bolts to be used.
