The selection of components for an electric propulsion unit driven by a brushless DC motor (BLDC motor) is often carried out experimentally. As a result, if the initial choice of components was unsatisfactory, the consumer is forced to purchase other components with slightly different parameters, after which the compliance testing is repeated. In this article, we will consider an example of how the performance of a selected electric motor and controller can be predicted using the parameters provided by the motor’s manufacturer, and also touch upon the issue of the BLDC parameters experimental determination.
