Application of Blockchain Technology to Smart Sustainable Tourism Destination Marketing

Blockchain technologies was raised in 1991, with a 30-year development of the technologies, they have been adopted in many areas in the digital arena. As groundbreaking disruptive technologies, blockchain technologies are influencing the tourism industry although the current researches have not been fully examined. This paper aims at exploring the application of blockchain technologies to smart sustainable tourism destination marketing. This paper reveals the inter-relationship between smart tourism and sustainable tourism, presents advantages of blockchain technologies in tourism settings and further studies the possibilities of applying blockchain technologies for destination marketing based on the creation of a model for destination marketing in the era of blockchain technologies. On the one hand, this paper presents features of blockchain technologies and explains the working mechanism of blockchain technologies in the tourism settings functioning their features and promoting the tourism sector. On the other hand, this paper illustrates pillars, aspects and indicators of sustainable tourism with the aim of integrating smart tourism with sustainable tourism.
