Considerations on Practical Implementation of Long Range PIR Movement Detector

The potential advantages of long range PIR sensor have been discussed by the authors in recent papers in scope of use as a motion detector for smart lighting systems. The concept and general ideas have been discussed previously. This paper is focused on detailed working principles and experimental validation. The features of the principle of operation of the PIR sensor are considered at the beginning of this article and the possibility of using these principles in movement detection at relatively long distances. Next the validation of optical system and amplifier gain/filter parameters is discussed. The conclusions on practical implementation of long range PIR sensor based on given research are discussed at the end the article.
