The purpose of the study is to investigate the efficiency of financial performance of dairy companies. The object of the research is 15 Latvian dairy companies, which represent all regions of Latvia and are limited liability companies and joint stock companies according to their legal form. The authors conducted a bibliometric analysis utilizing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) from 1987 to 2023. Notably, they underscored the method's underutilization within the financial sector. Their initial search returned 803 results from the Scopus database. The results of this bibliometric study reveal a mounting interest in the application of DEA in various fields, including higher education, hospitality, and carbon performance. To visualize the findings, they employed the VOSviewer tool. The study offers a concise overview of DEA methodology. Upon scrutinizing the authors' initial data, it is evident that, until now, no research has explored the operational efficiency of dairy companies in Latvia using the DEA method. The DEA calculation involved two input values, namely, the number of employees and balance sheet assets, alongside two output values, which were net turnover and gross profit. The results of the study shed light on the efficiency of dairy companies within the different regions of Latvia. Consequently, this study presents an innovative contribution to the existing body of statistics concerning the economic activities of dairy companies. The research methods are bibliometric, scientific literature analysis, and case analysis, data visualization using the VOSviewer tool.
