In this study, the performance of the experimental laser speckle imaging system and image processing algorithm for early evaluation of microbial activity in a noisy environment was tested. The proposed sub-pixel correlation algorithm was applied to recognize useful signals attributed to the microbial colony forming units in solid media. © 2023 SPIE.
