Development of glassy coatings for ceramics was started at the Department of silicate technology in 1947. Scientific investigations for enamelling crude iron and steel were started from the 1953. Electric insulating and hightemperature coatings for aluminium, copper, niobium and another metals as well as protective coatings for binary semiconductors on the base of phosphate glasses were made.
