Classic Text of Children's Literature in the Reception of Modern Culture: Crossovers based on the Fairy Tale by H.-K. Andersen's "The Snow Queen"
Детские Чтения 2019
Tatjana Menise

The article is dedicated to Russian-language reader adaptations in the "crossover" subgenre, based on the plot of H.C. Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen" (1844). In the crossovers presented on the popular themed website ficbook.net, the plot conflicts and characters of the canonical text "The Snow Queen" are combined with the plots and characters of other literary, cinematographic, and animated works, as well as with the realities of television shows. Readers reinterpret their favorite childhood story in the context of their individual intertextual field, which is shaped by the influence of the canon and contemporary popular films, series, and television programs. Thus, the writing of a crossover is preceded by analytical and creative reading of texts created in different languages of art and cultures. In a broader sense, crossovers can be viewed as artistic interpretations that arise at the intersection of various texts, media, and discourses. The phenomenon of the crossover is examined in the article from the perspective of cultural semiotics (using the ideas of M. Lotman, R. Barthes, and M. Riffaterre). The author of the article reveals the connection between the emergence and existence of the fanfiction genre with the specifics of reader perception, the writing practices of amateur authors, and the characteristics of contemporary mass culture.
