In order to identify possible differences in cognates in Lower Kurzeme in the 17th century, a comparative analysis of Mancelius and Langius dictionary texts was carried out and lexemes annotated or supplemented by Langius were studied. In order to determine their variability, a comparison is made with the use of cognates of the same semantics in the 20th/21st century grants of three Lower Kurzeme dialects - Barta, Nīca, Rucava.
