Given the importance of the construction industry in the Latvian economy, it is important to monitor its growth and development trends, because only by assessing and being aware of the real situation is it possible to make improvements. Several methods can be used to assess the competitiveness of the industry, but indices, which, due to their ability to analyze processes and their regularities in time and space, are one of the most popular assessment methods in the world. The article presents the construction industry competitiveness index developed by the authors, which consists of seven subfactors affecting the competitiveness of the industry - these are the subfactors of entrepreneurship, production, finance, human resources, technological development and innovation, environment and related and supporting industries.
