The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics has been remarkably successful in describing the fundamental forces and particles observed in experiments such as those at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Yet, it fails to explain several phenomena, including the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe, the nature of dark matter, and neutrino oscillations.
The SM predicts equal masses of particles and their corresponding antiparticles. In this Thesis, this assumption is tested. The measurement of the mass difference between the top quark and antiquark is presented using the Run 2 data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The measured value represents the most precise determination of this observable to date.
