Radio LR1: The Known in the Unknown - Biomimicry: How does Nature Teach Us to Warm up?
2023
Ruta Vanaga,
Ilze Vamža
The radio program “Known Unknown” explores biomimicry as a source of solutions for energy efficiency and heat retention in homes. Natural mechanisms, such as the porous structure of reindeer fur or the thick blubber of whales, inspire the development of new materials and façades that store and conserve heat. Researchers from Riga Technical University, Ruta Vanaga and Ilze Vamža, explain how principles from nature can help reduce energy consumption by changing both technologies and human habits.
