At the work are describe theoretical and practical questions, which are linked with multi speed synchronous motors application in the electric drive, ground rules, possibilities and problems in creation of such engines. The most important criteria, which stipulate application effectiveness of synchronous motor comparison with asynchronous engines, are formulated ( material and exploitation payments, indemnifications of the reagent power ). Examined and analyzed speed regulation in synchronous motors with pole strength exchanging, which (alike as the asynchronous motors) execute with switching of separate spool groups in stator windings. The various switching charts are examined, what provide to exchanging quantity of poles at correlation 1 : 2 (and also synchronous motor speed). Shown, how practical can be realize winding spools switching in the synchronous motor’s rotor, that obtain the magnetic field with a various pole numbers. Shown, that for decrease of economic values (prime price and loses) for multi speed synchronous motor’s must provide this indices to both modes. This mean, than in a planning task unlike the ordinary (one speed) synchronous engines there are instruct the loading graphs.
