Appropriateness of concept of dangerous and protective faults for evaluating of safety of railway automatic and telemechanic systems (RATS) is discussed. Deviations in calculations of level of RATS safety are evaluated, based on concept of dangerous faults. New methodology of construction of models of RATS safety is proposed, based on „dangerous” element concept. Three versions of markov models are developed for different system configurations to evaluate exponents of RATS safety, as well as computer realisation of them is proposed.
