Creation of new products and services in collaborative environment requires adopting the product data and knowledge management approach. In the paper, this approach is described under knowledge representation in the form of function means patterns (FM-patterns) of products shared among involved partners. The purpose is to capture new knowledge by automatic generation of so called composition structures glued from suitable FM-patterns in accordance with the given functional requirements and design constrains. To provide a desired quality of products the algorithm of genetic programming is used.
