The paper describes the general approach used in the Environmental Pollution Laboratory of Riga Technical University for the estimation uncertainly in testing environmental samples. Among the main uncertainly components are matrix effects, which are complicated. Only estimates based on analysts’ experience and knowledge can be made. The matrixes are grouped and different procedures are used to estimate the uncertainly for each matrix type.
