In article there is analyzed the present condition and perspectives of electric power engineering in Latvia, the power system of which operates as a part of the whole united power system of Belorussia, Lithuania, Russia and Estonia. The solving of the existed problems will hasten the process of Latvian power system integration into the power systems of other states of the European Union (EU), providing the access to its market of electrical power. The realization of the planned measurements in own power generation increasing as well as the participation of Latvia in establishing of new electrical and power connections with neighbor states will allow to improve the stability of electric power engineering in Latvia.
