Role of EU Structural Funds in the Development of Regions in Latvia

The article discusses the difficulties in using EU structural funds in the regional development in Latvia. EU financial support is divided into 5 priorities. The majoritu of projects involving EU funds are implemented in the capital district of Riga, whose dominance over the rest of the country will continue to grow as a result. The author is concerned that EU regional policy may lead to even deeper regional diproportions in Latvia.
