Some Aspects of Cable Analysis for Cable-Stayed Bridges
2003
Verners Straupe, Ainārs Paeglītis

For structural analysis of cable stayed bridges very important is the method for obtaining of the stresses in stay -cables. The previous investigations [1] showed that the adjustment of stress level in stay-cables (pre-stressing) allowed decreasing the stresses in girder more than twice. Strain in cable stayed bridges deck construction can be reduced by stay pre-tensioning. The tension power is calculated to counterbalance decks deflection or stresses. For large span cables the dead load slag must be taken into account. The paper describes problems of calculation if such cables are represented by bars.
