Formation and Calculation of the Index of Regional Competitiveness in Latvia

The regional competitiveness index (RCI) processing algorithm is: Study, summarization and analyses of literature (Step 1). Selection and summarization of the indicators of factors (Step 2). Weighting of factors (Step 3). Normalization of indicators (Step 4). Formations of function of RCI (Step 5). Calculation of RCI (Step 6). Regional competitiveness index makes possible to find out those factors that dwarf or promote the competitiveness of regions. In that way it promotes introduction of effective regional policy in the country.
