Ceramic materials with different properties and application by slip casting or plastic moulding from Devonian and Quaternary clays by using additives of metallic aluminium powder with different grain size are produced. Lightweight ceramic with porosity 49,5 % for Devonian clays and 29,7 % for Quaternary clays with good calculated thermal insulating properties (λ= 0,13 -0,15 W/m.K) is produced by slip casting of concentrated suspension with additive of 0,5 % fine aluminium powder with grain size 15μ. Pores with large scale diameter are formed in result of chemical reaction aluminium powder with water and following solidification of suspension. Plastic formed ceramic materials with additive of coarse aluminium powder with grain size 100 μ and 630 μ in amount 1 wt% and 5 wt% show other properties. Water uptake in such materials sintered at various temperature changes a little bit in comparison with materials sintered at the same temperatures from clay without additive of aluminium powder. Compressive strength of materials obtained from Quaternary clay with additive of 1 wt% of aluminium powder 630 μ is a little higher to materials without additive of aluminium powder. Compressive strength of materials obtained from Devonian clay with additive of 1 wt% and 5 wt% of aluminium powder 630 μ is tactile better to materials without additive of aluminium powder. These compositions are suitable for production of dense clay ceramic with water uptake lower to 6 %. Coarse aluminium powder play a role as reducer in the Fe2O3 containing ceramic body.
