The preliminary research has been performed regarding the development of pore structure of hydroxyapatite ceramics using mechanical activation of solution method derived HAp, and application of partially hydrolyzed solutions of alkoxides for the preparation of composite HAp-sol-gel ceramics. To synthesize HAp powder of CaO was obtained by thermal treatment of Ca(OH)2 at 400 oC and crushing. Then dispersion of CaO in water obtained, which was titrated by 0.3M H3PO4. Powder obtained was dried, and by milling during 1 to 36 hours in the planetary corundum ball mills powders with various sizes and their distribution were obtained. These powders were used to develop composite HAp – sol-gel TiO2-SiO2 ceramics. The results of optical and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, infra-red absorption spectroscopy as also the parameters of ceramic materials porosity and strength confirm the possibility of monitoring the sintering and pore structure of material depending on size of HAp particles and thermal treatment procedure. The research directed to impact of HAp particle sizes and their distribution (including nanosized one) on the processes of structure and texture development of composite material to enhance the strength parameters is required.
