Thanks to computer technologies and scanning equipment there is a more and more rapid development in anthropometry and cloth designing. Equipment for gaining 3D data of a human body has been invented very recently. It is very important to know information of human body outer shape description, size and measurements for apparel designers and manufacturers. There is a chain of problems in the production of clothes that are related to the features of the figure of a customer to get maximally conformable clothes. Currently the most important tasks of the clothing industry are the ones for improving the first and basic stage of designing process. This is the stage of model appearance and its patterns elaboration. In this stage the high quality of the future item is founded and it ought to be automated to compete successfully on the world market. The purpose of this research is to estimate validity and suitability of non-contact measured anthropometrical data for garment creation. The full body scanning solutions are dedicated to the three applications: garment size selection, virtual try on, 3D avatar. Full body scanning is the primary measurement task – garment designing should be improved via obtained anthropometrical data. Special attention has been paid to the estimation of possibilities to improve garment designing process.
