Latpos Base Station System Stability
2009

New generation GPS base station network System LatPos was added to geodetic network of Latvia. This Global Positioning System Base Station System provide Real Time Measurements all over country with up to four centimeter preciseness. In this article discussion about making measurements in old fashion geodetic network and LatPos System has been discussed. To keep up and running classical geodetic network, lot of resources and time is needed. Contrary, LatPos system can be afforded by several specialists. To evaluate factors, and make decision, which system is better, the classical geodetic network is not stable in case of Earth movements. Coordinate recalculations is needed time after time. This means measurement sessions and office works. Opposite is LatPos system, where data are collecting all the time and coordinate recalculation is possible every time. Not only coordinate stability, but data transfer from base stations to server and user. If any interruptions in data transfer, data is collected on base stations and later transferred to server. User can collect data on rower and make data postprocessing at office, when data will be available. This concludes that LatPos system is high stability and availability.
