The contemporary business applications can not afford to be isolated islands in Data Ocean. The enterprise users are requiring the instant and immediately access to all business functions. The thematic maps published from enterprise geoportal as well as “desktop” GIS programs are inseparable parts of business logics. Geospatial data in modern enterprise are mixed and reused together with other basic data sets. However the essential feature of geospatial data presentations is data layer grouping in themes with goal of representing physical and natural objects in web maps. Every theme can consist of the logically linked group of individual layers. The enforced completeness of geospatial data set maintained by relational data base tools in central server environment would be beneficial for enterprise business data flows. The predefined spatial accuracy and requirements for data capture methods would be enforced by enterprise GIS as well. The success of enterprise-wide GIS system implementation depends on web GIS services organized by well trained geomatics specialists in particular department. The all other departments are consuming these web services. The outsourced web GIS services would be worth consideration. Frequently the main problems in successful enterprise GIS implementation are related to different views inside enterprise of necessary spatial data sets accuracy completeness and topicality.
