Development of Mesoscopic Simulation Model for Discrete Object Flow Analysis in a Logistics System
Proceedings of the 3rd International Logistics Doctoral Student Workshop 2010
Jeļena Pečerska, Juri Tolujew

This paper deals with the mesoscopic simulation of a logistics system. By examining modelling methods of logistics processes, up-to-date software for logistics system simulation and features of logistics system simulation the area of method application is clarified. Main modelling approaches of logistics system simulation - microscopic and mesoscopic - are outlined. The mesoscopic simulation approach implementation for model development with discrete-event simulation software is considered more particularly. The interpretation of mesoscopic simulation results and comparison with standard discrete-event simulation results is proposed. The approach implementation gives a possibility to assume the effectiveness of mesoscopic flow simulation, and traces the course of further research.
