Effectiveness Evaluation of the Repairs Strengthening in the Zone of Shaped Body Support of the Tank Car

In this work the frequently detected damages (cracks) of the tank car for oil transportation are analyzed. As well as the effectiveness evaluation of the repairs strengthening in the zone of shaped body support of the tank car is done. The finite element model of the tank car was elaborated. During calculations using this FEM model the loads and reasons that cause the cracks in mentioned zones were defined. After few numerical experiments the insufficient strength and quality of repaired joints in the zone of shaped body support and its joining with center sill of tank car was confirmed. The proposal for increasing of the strength and quality of repair works (as well as for poor repair correction) of the tank car in the indicated above zones was elaborated and offered in this work.
