Consolidation Vs. Stimulus: Post-Crisis Experience of Fiscal Policy in Latvia

In the publication the aspects of fiscal policy related to financial and economic crisis and after-crisis period in Latvia are being discussed. The main fiscal policy direction for 2009-2012 is to continue significant consolidation of public finances through reduction of wages, government size and implementation of structural reforms till the deficit criteria is achieved. At the same time within the reduced budget some fiscal stimulus measures were implemented of which the EU funds are considered as the most important.
