On the Mechanics of the Shearing Process in Bar Shearing

An experimental set-up for bar shearing is described that provides an accurate clearance in this partitioning process. Bar shearing has been studied by experiments including 2D and 3D FEA in order to characterize the mechanics of the process. It is commented on how the geometry of the shearing dies will influence the quality of the obtained cut.
