The main trends of regional development of Latvija in 1930 are described in the article. It was necessary to evaluate the historical experience of Latvija. Already in this period there were possible to see main competitve advantages and specialization of some regions. In Latvija differences of socio-economical development among regions were in the past and is also the problem today. The main directions of economical activity are changed, but the basic geographical conditions are the same. One of the most topical problems today is not the equalization of regional differences, but making regions as an attractive place where to live and work.
