Grid network provides unlimited access to other computer resources - the ability to store data and perform calculations. Grid network services have possibility of distributing a single task into several parts and simultaneously executing them on many computers, speeding up the overall task. Grid networks are suitable for tasks, which solve the same task many times with different input parameters. Grid networks are mostly used in research studies for large-scale calculations, data storage and processing. In year 2000 European Union decided to create a European Research Area, to provide cooperation of European scientists for joint research objectives and to strengthen the European science leadership in the global scale. European Research Area’s importance is attached to the e- infrastructure building, which must consist oftwo main components - Gigabit European Academic Network GÉANT and the European Grid network infrastructure. Projects about the unified European Grid network are being developed. Baltic Grid is a European Commission project for Grid technology development in Baltic countries. Baltic Grid includes 10 leading institutions from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland. University of Latvia, Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation is using the opportunity to process GNSS data in the environment of Baltic Grid virtual machine. Bernese software was installed in the virtual machine and several test calculations were performed. Virtual machine environment is convenient for use, easy to learn, it does not consume the user's computer resources; it gives the opportunity to continue work by connecting to any computer that has an Internet connection. It is convenient to store GNSS data and calculation results; it is possible to make unlimited calculations continuously twenty-four hours long.
