After the Second World War there was in Latvia successful development of houshold and artistic ceramics as well as the production of porcelain und faience articles. In Riga the work was started by the workshop of ceramics at the complex enterprise „Māksla” , and at the workshop of the fund „Māksla”, where there were working certified artists. Within the premises of the regional industrial complexes there were produced various clay dishes and articles. Such workshop were located in Jelgava, Cēsis, Krustpils, Rēzekne, Kuldīga, Dobele and Rolava. In 1963 the facilities of the industrial complexes were united into the enterprise „Latvian Ceramics» At their individual workshops there were creatively working the masters of ceramics of Latgalia, developong the local tradition of ceramics of their region. The production of porcelain and faience was restarted by the Riga porcelain and faience factory (the former factory of Kuznetsov) and the Riga porcelain factory (the former Jesens factory). Besides the ordinary porcelain dishes the Riga porcelain factory was producing electrotechnical porcelain, but the Riga factory of porcelain and faience produced porcelain tubes and heatresistanf articles. In 1967 the production of faience was interrupted.
