Imants Meirovics

The special purpose programme „For Education, Science and Culture” (ESC special purpose programme) was founded in the autumn of 1993 with the support of the holding „DATI” (Informatics) which expressed its readiness to assume a part of care of the education, science and natural culture problems of the state of Latvia. This fact brings us closer to the civilized world as well, where wealth goes together with social ownership. In the following years 33 academic areas joined the Project where the special purpose programme awarded grant allotments. Approximately 180 Bachelor and Master Students attended higher education schools on Latvia each year with the ESC special purpose programme Grants (1993-12007). Direct collaboration of ESC special purpose programme with Latvian Academy of Science commenced in 1999 along with signature of the first agreement with JSC „DATI” on outstanding academic achievement or life-work in computer sciences and informatics. The next agreement was signed in 2000 with JSC „ITERA LATVIJA” on outstanding academic contribution or life-work in environment, land and geography sciences a.o. contracts. The text is supplemented with 3 tables and one picture – grant allotments of students and master students by areas.
