This article outlines history of boxing in period from the foundation of RTU in 1958 to this day. The author of this historical description in common with his colleagues Igors Viktorovs, Iļja Berkovičs and Genadijs Vanajevs have made great contribution in boxing development of university. Sportingly results of current and former boxers of RTU are showing that. Best boxers of RTU such as Aleksandrs Matjušenkovs, Sergejs Lobakovs, Andrejs Černuckis and others are famed not only in Latvia but also outside it. Champion boxing team of RTU is frequent winner of Latvian competitions between universities. There are prepared sixteen masters of sport and eleven Latvian champions in the RTU. Aleksandrs Matjušekovs was champion six times, but Andrejs Černuckis four times. Our students repeatedly won prestige prize of Arnolds Knīsis. Uldis Meijersons and Brunis Jasinskis won this prize three times seriatim, but Sergejs Somovs won it one time. Thanks to managers of RTU sports work and activities of trainers since 2007 are taking place Latvian student’s championships. RTU Sport’s department and Sport’s club are organizing it. Many of our sportsmen such as Deniss Hižinins, Vladislavs Belousovs, Stanislavs Gricjus, Andis Cickovskis etc. are successfully taking part in various competitions. In this historical description was mention those sportsmen who won places in Latvian and international championships. Meaning place in RTU boxing history also has those sportsmen who took place in lower level competitions, but we don’t have exact registration of them.
