Formation of Nanostructures on the Surface of CdZnTe by Laser Radiation

An experiment on irradiation of the solid solution Cd0.9Zn0.1Te laser was carried out. According to the results of the experiment, after irradiation of the sample, the surface was cowerd by nanocones with height of 10 nm in diameter at the base of ≈ 10 nm. On the photoluminescence spectra of the irradiated samples, measured at 5 K, we observed two new bands corresponding to the exciton lines and A0X D0X, shifted to shorter wavelengths at 0.23 eV. This shift we explain by exciton quantum confinement effect.
